Specialist Study 1 - Things I Like

The Walking Dead (Unofficial) By Daniel Kanemoto

I really enjoy this animation, i think that it has a great style and feel towards it. What i am most interested in are the techniques used to create the 3D look, and how the environment was created. Fortunately for me there is an interview with the creator of this animation on the website www.artofthetitle.com

Throughthis interview, i was able to see some of the processes taken place in creating the animation.

I can see his processes and how he striped images from the comic book "The Walking Dead" into separate layers, and stacked them on top of each other. Then when placed into 3D space using after effects, managed to create the 3D effect seen in the video. As well as this, i also liked the idea of using the original artwork from the comic in order to create his work.
This title sequence for the film Rock'n'Rolla, created by Danny Yount also interests me, off course I like the gritty art style, and the motion graphics however what caught my eye in particular, was the way in which the live action footage was merged into live action at the very beginning of the video. I like this as its a clever way to incorporate live action into animation of vice versa. I would like to examine this technique further in the hopes that I can also produce an effect which would enable me to interestingly merge 2 different types of media together.

You can also see this effect in the ending to the film "Sherlock Holmes" also created by Danny Yount, where he morphs live footage, into what seems like a water colour painting.
