Advertising Project

This was a collaberative project between Advertising students and Graphis design students in which we were given the topic "hydration in order to create an advert. We originally thought of three ideas, one was the "Global Water Challenge"  in which i created a poster for. The Poster was well received when we presented this idea to our peers and tutors. The thought behind it was that some people dont have the luxury of being able to just turn on a tap, this is the reason why i placed the tap so high up on the poster, way out of reach of the person collecting the water below it, also the fact that the tap is merely dripping created an impact as it also shows that when people in need of water do get it, its often to enough and is out of their control. I created this completely in Adobe Photoshop which is something i have had experience in working with before, nothing major, but ive played around with it enough to know the basics and some advanced techniques.

To get inspiration for the poster i looked up many other water posters.

The poster looks very simple, as i believe the simplest posters are the most effective, however i did cut out parts from my original poster which was not as effective.

We also had a little competition between our group on who could create the best logo to our self named group "Blimey". This is was my contribution. I created it by searing the internet for a variety of paint splatters, from here i then merged them together so that it looked like one big paint splatter and then introduced the "blimey" text create that negative space effect. I then just altered the colours to give it that purple look.

The other two ideas we came up with for "hydration" was "This Water" A fruit juice drink and "Starbucks Bottled Frappuccino" For which we also thought up ideas for adverts etc.... The one we finally decided to focus upon was "This Water" even after it was given....slightly negative feedback when we presented our original idea. As a group we could all still see the potential in this more so than any of the others, so we decided to stick with it but to come up with a stronger idea than our original.

Whilst working on the Project we Jotted down a quick storyboard. From here i visualised how i wanted the advert to look and so create an image.
I took a lot if inspiration from the innocent drinks website, and particularly the kids section as this was the most colourfull and quirky, the thing that interested me the most. One of the things that i didnt want particularly was a plain background. So i used a patch that someone from my group had posted onto facebook to create the dotted grass and sky.

For the actuall animation for the advert. we wanted to create a stop motion feel after creating a short clip using this technique. However as animators we felt that it would be easiers to use adobe after effetcs, and you could create a similar effect but it would be much more efficient mainly for editing purposes. However at this stage i was unable to use adobe after effects. During the initial planning i did work with Riz the other animator in the group to help create the practice clip in after effects, i did this by separating different parts of an image into seperate layers, and by drawing the the wings of the bird so that when he animated it it looked as if it was flying.

Finally i was asked to produce a website design, as i didnt know much about create websites, i just created a video in order to show the look and general feel of it. By now i  had learned the very basics of adobe after effects and was able to creat something which was of a decent standard.

I looked at a few different websites to gather ideas, one in which i really liked was for "Starbucks frappaccinos"  I liked how they had used quirky, simple animation to showcase their various drinks, and that was some that i wanted to showcase. Rosy posted me a picture of a possible design for the website which she herself had created in photoshop. I took from this the background, as it was something i liked alot, im not fond of block colours and this background had textures, and white spots dotted around. I also used some of the Vectors and typography which rosy kindly posted on facebook herself. I looked at a few different fruit juice websites to check out the competition and to search for inspiration.

And what i found was that alot of them were bright and colourfull however clear, for this reason i attempted to make mine like this also.
